Showing up it’s a word that you might see online almost everyday, it’s the secret to success but what if you’re already showing up?
What if you already show up everyday in front of your ideal clients and you don’t get the sales then what?
Well in my experience there’s showing up and then there’s showing up that nets people a return a return as in sales and the difference is what people are actually showing up with because let’s face it showing up with a motivational quote once a day isn’t really showing up is it?
Before we look at how to show up to get a return let’s quickly look at what showing up is, so yes showing up is of course all about enabling your ideal clients to know you exist but unless you’re showing up in a way that enables them to know what you do or why they need you they’re not going to buy, I mean they might know you exist because they see your name but they won’t know what to come to you for, what they could buy from you etc you’ll be visible and yet invisible too.
So showing up is about you showing up in front of your ideal clients positioning yourself as the person that has what they need/want that’s where you’re going to see a return from your showing up activities.
Let’s look at how you show up in a way that gets you seen and gets you a return
Well first of all pay attention to what you’re showing up with, if you’re showing up with motivational quotes or sharing other peoples things all the time then people simply won’t know what you do and if they don’t know what you do it really doesn’t matter how many times you get in front of them they won’t buy from you. So always make sure that what your showing up with connects people to what you do
It’s also worth noting that it’s important that you show up in a way that connects with your ideal clients and what they need/want. This means talking about what they want help with or positioning things in a way that would connect to them. Again this comes back to the basics, if you’re showing up in front of your ideal clients with things that don’t connect with them then they’re not going to buy from you because they won’t know you have what they need or want. You might think but I know they need this and that might be the case but it’s how you position it to them, are you talking to your ideal clients in a way that makes them go oh wow that’s what I need!
Focus on where you’re showing up, there might be a difference in the places you hang out for your own business vs the places you could do with hanging out and showing up in front of your ideal clients. I see so many people that say they’re showing up but where they’re showing up is in places that their ideal clients simply wouldn’t be. So have a think about where you’re showing up and whether your ideal clients are actually there or not.
Showing up requires consistency so if you’re not being consistent and we’re talking consistent with what message you show up with and consistent with how often you show up then the likelihood is you won’t be getting a return from your showing up activity. Consistency is the missing link for so many people, don’t let it be the missing link for you!
Understand what your showing up activity does for you, does it lead straight to a sale or does it open a door that you can then nurture and close at a later date. I see this happen a lot, people say oh I’m showing up everyday and people contact me but then they never go further and buy but when we look at what they’re doing after the initial showing up that led to that contact the answer is nothing, unless you follow up then the showing up activity won’t necessarily result in a sale so ensure you understand what showing up activity leads straight to a sale and what other showing up activity might open a door or you instead.
And finally the big thing so many people don’t do is actually ask for the sale “I’m showing up all the time but no one buys” do you ever tell them they can buy? “no” …well people won’t buy if you don’t open the door. So ask for the sale!
Ultimately showing up in a way that gets a return comes down to the following:
Knowing your ideal clients, what they want and where they hang out
Show up in a way that positions you as someone who has what your ideal clients need/want
Speak their language
Be consistent with it
Ask for the sale
Next time you think to yourself “I’m showing up all the time and getting nothing” check in with the above. Are you speaking their language? What are you showing up with? Have you been consistent with it? Have you followed up? Are you talking to the want or need?
